Tesco in Prague had tanks full of fish from salmon to carp....it's definitely popular in Europe , I've not eaten it , but why not. I'd rather a whiter fish myself. Pike supposed to be good when they're bigger , west Indians used to smoke them in the foundry back in the seventies. I'd take  mackerel all day...

We'd keep the odd pike around five or six pound. They made for good eating. Bones and removing scales was a bit of a pain. Meant to be a method to removing bones, but never mastered it.

My mates grandparents used to catch the carp for crimbo and leave in the bath for a couple of days to purge the flavour a bit. Apparently that was the norm before the supermarkets there started selling it on a commercial level similar to beef or chicken.
