Two looks that you northerners sported until about 1998 I think ! Lol

Not me mate.I was cutting edge.

Winklepickers are just beginning to be phased out in Scotland though.

You can still buy brylcreem here...seriously.

Our house was permanently stained with Brylcreem. I had a lot of brothers mostly older than me. The house stunk of it.

I wonder what Amy Whinehouse would've of achieved if she'd of lived, only 27 when she died and still considered one of the best... unique voice and talent for sure

I remember going to the “baths”, (swimming pool), and the overwhelming smell of chlorine and the machine dispensing Brylcreem for one old penny a shot !

Cheers.

Fair enough mate, the calling out of the child molestation in the Catholic Church and ripping up the photo if the pope on live TV was the end of her in many ways and she knew it, well at least the end for mainstream media... she was proven right of course years later... the booing she got at the Bob Dylan concert showed what most of the world thought of her views at that time, again the masses still believed that she was the anti christ for speaking out.... I'm with you on a lot of her later stuff and turning to Islam, id have more respect if she stayed completely away from religion after out Catholism as you can't jump in bed with Islam based on child grooming!!

Interesting character though, more guts than most of the churned out pouting pop stars today!

More years ago than I care to remember I met a bird in a pub who was a member of an organisation called “The Anti Nazi League” (I think it eventually morphed into the ANTIFA of today)……anyway, a short arsed little gobshite as I remember, stick thin and with a tidy little short hair style……never one to look a gift horse in the mouth and to cut a long story short, I spent a very interesting and energetic night with her and lo and behold, she was sweetness personified as dawn broke.

The moral of this story ?……some of these lairy  birds just need a good roll to calm them down ! Lol

I lived in London in 1969. I tried to blend in by sewing a load of buttons on my waistcoat and putting my thumbs in my braces. I mastered the accent no problem but I gave myself away by exchanging eye contact with strangers and saying good morning on the underground.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I always have an image of Charlie Chuck when I think of 70s/80s northerners ? Lol
