You probably know this, but she wrote that late one night, stayed up all night playing it as didn't want to sleep and forget it...raced to the studio in the morning to record it... some talent on that band, everyone of them could write, sing, play... not many times does that come together.. regret not watching them a couple of years back when they reformed, with Neil Finn (Crowded House) doing the Lindley Buckingham part (they were done with him!) LOL.. .. never again as you can't replace Chrissy McVie

He was drawing attention to 3 or 4 notes in a song or a little guitar lick that he decided the song needed and the different with and without was literally night and day…..that’s some level of talent and skill that is. A man who is a master of his craft.

chartpolski 23,928
I think we have a lot of different ideas on what a “diva” is, but mine would be Maria Callas, the aria from the film “Philadelphia “ was outstanding. More recent would be Streisand and Celine Dion. Cheers.

I think Mariah Carey, Whitney, Beyonce etc when saying Diva.. but Celine Dion and Barbara Streisand could perhaps be classed as Divas, definitely brilliant singers! The origin of the word Im sure comes from the Italian for the main lady singer in an opera; Prima Diva, much as the main lady dancer in ballet is the Prima Donna. Both titles have obviously deviated far from their original meaning but I though the question was related to the original meaning, but I do understand there is such things as pop divas, rock divas, etc. Tina Turner would surely deserve the appellation “Rock Diva” ? jukel123 8,230
The scene, a cafe with a jukebox 1965. I was trying to make my coke last, as you got thrown out if you didn't buy anything. Somebody put The Stones 'Satisfaction' on. As soon as I heard that saxophone and the pent up frustration of Jaggers voice, I knew Cliff Richard,Elvis, the jive and the twist had had their day and the future belonged to that explosion of sounds that came out of the sixties. Especially The Stones. Still my favourite track.

Being a little younger than you, I got into the stones music after they had produced all their best music... must've been exciting to hear it first time as there was nothing else like it, I suppose in more recent years only rap/hip hop or perhaps dance music could be comparable as most music is reworked on the classic rock/blues/pop parameters.. As said i like the 70s stuff by the stones, beast of Burden, Tumbling Dice, Angie, Wild Horses, Brown Sugar etc... but Sympathy for the Devil and Gimme Shelter are massive songs and must've beeb so far removed from anything else in the late 60s?
