People like me feel sorry for obese kids and young mothers weighing 16 stone (and more) putting their life expectancy at risk. People like me believe in a thing called society. Its common sense to put taxes on high sugar, salt and carb foods. This would encourage the supermarkets to manufacture fast foods which are less hazardous to health. And possibly cut prices on healthy food. I would also advocate a traffic light system on food which would educate people. People genuinely don't know why they are obese and blame big bones or genetics. Scotland has tweaked its alcohol tax and has immediately seen a reduction in deaths relating to alcohol. Hundreds of thousands of British lives have been saved by price increases on tobacco and by information of the harmful effect of tobacco. I started smoking when I was 13 and only stopped 10 years later when I got the message about lung cancer. If you can only see your own interests, then think of the extra financial burden on the NHS which we all pay for. Public transport, especially air travel might also be cheaper if sufficient people lost weight. Might decrease excess methane and save the planet as well Lol Edited September 27, 2023 by jukel123
