It will heal, but you’re looking at a few weeks rather than days. The joys of running dogs in September

If you feel confident, snip off the loose bit, give it a thorough clean, keep it clean and let nature take its course until it's healed. If you're not confident, see a vet and be prepared to be r

Thanks for the comments, I just cut it off, bled a good bit but some wound powder soon dried it up looks bang on now.

If you've got a local saddlery near you that deals with equestrian ointments you may get some of this mate. Great stuff for minor & deep wounds. Puts like a second skin on to protect the damaged area. I've got some here come with a little stick with a sponge on the end to dab on the area.

You keeping that brasso for your next pup's collar, Chaff?

Comes in handy for lamping.  Especially if you get a brindle. 👍

That looks like a bad one how long did it take to heal mate ? Did it open if the dog ran or did you just lead walk it for a few weeks

Couple of months mate tbh was a right pain keeping on lead all the time. Don't know if you’ve got other dogs but maybe easier if you’ve only got the 1 on routine walks without injured one going ballistic on lead while terrier hunting up. Not got time be walking separate. Unnatural deep cut because of the tile so yours might not be as bad. Did open up in between the healing period but not been prob since.

Get the cut & heal nothing beats that. A well known dog man round my area put me onto this many years back for dwel clawing the pups. Just a dab of this after they've been taken off. Used to use the little curly nail cutting scissors made the job look so easy. Done in seconds at 2 days old. After they'd had that cut & heal put on they'd healed in two to three days. Bitches never bothered with them. Not like they would when vet had put a stitch in. My pal had a bitch that had been to vets for them doing. Bitch ended up pulling at pups feet made a mess. So it goes to show that vets aren't always right. You do what's best for the dog mate. But even if you don't use it now get some of this for the future atb

Nothing worse than a pad cut. My old dog had one from some arsehole smashing glass under one of the bridges. Teens drinking down there then for fun smashing the bottles on the wall. f***ing glass everywhere some time. Anyway local council clean it up to the best they can , but miss bits of small stuff and my old dogs walked over it. Got abit on from bridge then noticed it pissing out blood. Straight home bit of cleaning with salt water , bit of cut & heal on , then padding with a wrap of vetwrap. Great stuff the vetwrap cheap enough too.

Mine has healed pretty good now since I sniped the flap off…. Thing’s just get worse with this dog very injury prone, was out last night ripped half of its stopper pad off, the ground was wet as anything so I think she’s caught it on barbed wire jumping over a fence. Glued it twice because of we’re it is still seems to be opening

Don’t waste time with glue or stitches, take it to the vet and get the stopper off that’ll never heal properly. And a bit of advice for the future stop running dogs on hard ground
