And you get different sizes and shapes of wasps/hornets within each species ,whether they are Male, Queens or Workers. It also depends on the time of year and age and strength of the nest. Early season workers tend to be weedy little things While as the nest gets bigger and stronger the size and quality of the inhabitants improves. As does their lifespan. Early season workers might manage to make it to the end of the week . Later batches ,maybe two or three times that. So wherever there is a wasps ' nest there are going to be dead wasps long before the nest starts to die back in autumn . Quote Link to post
