They were all non-ped racing whippets, running in a straight line.

They all had a very peculiar style of running, the back legs trying to overtake the front legs, almost running sideways!

Mine didn't last long, too many injuries, mainly muscle and joints.

Cheers.

In my petrol head  way of thinking they were like dragsters mate, must have been a few that got less of gene and didn't over muscle and turned champions.

A decent dual purpose dog, with a good temperament,  could win a scratch race and catch a hare.

Sadly shot dead whilst coursing.

Cheers.

I have seen you post before about the keeper shooting her charts, always wondered was there devine retribution or was it a case of live and let live?

The keeper got a good hiding. My brother and I were charged with GBH and " Tresspass in pursuit of game or coney".

A friend of my dads was a director of Newcastle United who also happened to be the RSPCA's lawyer and he defended us in court,( how ironic is that ?), he destroyed the keepers credibility and we were found not guilty of all charges.

The keeper was charged with unlawfully killing a dog.

He was found guilty and lost his guns, SGC, fined and banned from keeping dogs.

So, yeah, a bit of Devine retribution, but I lost a very good dog.

A chance you take every time you "step over to the other side of the fence".

Cheers.

You were fortunate to have that lawyer on your side we had a keeper around us on the Wentworth estate in the 70s and 80s an ex poacher himself who shot loads of dogs even pet dogs one being a pet yorkie with a ribbon in its hair when it strayed behind its owner on a public foot path but due to the estate having South Yorkshire police in its pocket he got away with it for year's even to the point of threatening people with firearms.
