Picked whippet bro and sis up last week from Wales. It would be over 40 yrs since having a pure bred whippet  and forgot how feisty they are even the KC bred ones .

Nice one mate congrats any pictures

what is a whippet? is it a dog that needs to run faster than any other dog in the race that it is entered in? what is a 'pedigree' whippet? kc registered? what is non - pedigree whippet? a slow mongrel? do non-pedigree whippets have written family history, a pedigree? if a kc line of whippets can be made to run around a track faster than non-kc whippets by introducing non-pedigree (kc), and you do not do that?  what is the  point of closed gene pool kc registration of any type of dog? how many kc registered kc whippets have non-ped blood in them? well. all of them before the kc existed.

no kc registered greyhound ever won a race or a coursing event as far as i know. Those greyhound would be non - ped, apart from having the most accurate recorded pedigrees of any type of dog known to the world on a par with the English fox hound.

The KC part to me is irrelevant they just came with papers . I wanted small dogs as were I am thè extra pace in tight areas small fields is an advantage . I don't need a 20+ rabbit lamp dog . As what you say is true the whippet originally had bull blood in it . So in reality it is a mongrel . I wouldn't a dog or a pair to replace my dog I lost a couple of months ago . The way the scene is going it will all be gone . You only have to see what some people openly post on Facebook to make you shake your head in disbelief . All I require is a something to knock about with without drawing to much attention to myself .

Lovely looking whippets there. KC or not KC, they are one of the few breeds that are relatively still fit and healthy and free from faults due to badly written  or mis-understood  KC breed standards .

Thank you but all the credit goes to the breeder mate .

Yeah they really do look well mate your guna have your hands full with those two lol

Starting with lead work is it

No they are OK on the lead just light exercise walking 10 min to 15 min then 10 mins of charging about . Limit it to twice a day as they can over do it themselves . You have got to protect them from themselves from over doing it  to be honest . Mainly  bonding getting them familiar with new surroundings socialising and getting them into a regular routine. Had them health checked both in perfect health . So well happy with that

Yeah protecting them from their selves is key I think until the brain matures.

I'm planning on holding this one back until the times right.

Got some ferreting lined up for winter but that will be watching the other dogs and sniffing about no more.

👍
