I will personally give anyone 10, 000 pounds Stirling, if they they could beat a pedigree whippet over 50, 100, 150 or 200 yards.

People talk silly about the difference in speed of non ped and ped whippets.

I’ve handicapped both ped and non-ped whippets and the best non-ped whippets are around 1:5 seconds faster than the peds over 150 yards , that equates to the ped needing around 24 yards start over the non-ped for them to cross the finish line together.

Most clubs racing time handicaps have a 21 yard limit, that’s why both my local clubs run the peds separately from the non-peds.

Cheers.

A good handler could "throw" his dog five yards up the track to land him smoothly in his stride at full speed.

Phil Drabble.

No pressure then

I didn't know that..

They looked fit keen lads those dogs were potentially feeding them n there families no doubt 👏

Alf fed mutton, but he cut every strip of fat from it before he boiled it He gave eggs and sherry and calves foot jelly and minced lean beef.

Phil Drabble again that takes some effort, but sherry !

OK charts, and I know this isn't the same, but how many yards do you think you'd have to give your average sprinter compared to usain bolt,!

Silly analogy, I know!!

I haven’t a clue, I don’t know what times an average sprinter does.

Im just giving an example of ped v non-ped times.

It’s indisputable that non- peds are considerably faster than peds.

In fact, there’s only ever been one pedigree whippet, Rch Our Pepe, that won a BWRA championship against non-pedigree whippets. That was back in 1968.

I like both peds and non-peds and both have their places in racing and working.

Cheers.

9 and a half seconds bolts record 100 meters so a bit more then 100 yards

a greyhound be the quickest over hundred yards and would leave a whippet over 200 like the majority of long dogs would
