Stick to Zander much better if you can get them!

Once saw a recipe for Chub!!!

Went something like this from memory.

Clean your fish carefully and season well.

Sandwich between 2 pieces of ply.

Bake in a moderate oven until ready.

Remove the Chub form the 'sandwich and throw in the bin.

Eat the ply!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

im gonna give pike a try this year at the end of the day if it isnt the best tasting fish who care's ? at least you know how fresh it is where its come from and its a free source of protien so whats so bad about that ? if its that bad then spice it up a bit take the head of and stuff with a little lemon onion chilli's good bit of garlic and a healthy seasoning add extra spice's to your likeing and i cant see it being that bad . im sertainly gonna give it a go we dont eat anough of whats good for us nowa days and with what it costs for a decent bit fish in the shops if i can make it taste ok and im getting it for free surely thats better than sitting back eating some pre packed chicken nuggets with a dose of frozen chips and ketchup i know whitch sounds better to me anyway.

No, no, no. Any one who knows anything about pike fishing will realise pike shud NOT be taken out the water! It may be legal but that is not the point. Pike are in limited stocks and it is said that there are perhaps 4 pike in every quatre mile of river. Of coarse there are more in some areas and none in others so it evens out. If we all took pike out of rivers to eat there wud be none left. The PAC and other pike fishing organisations are doing everything they can to prevent pike bein taken out of our waters. I mean come on people, is there not already a massive problem with f*****g imigrants taking our fish and ruining the balance, lets leave the pike alone.

to be honest iv never fished for pike in any river , i have only ever fished for pike in a reservwire/fishery whitch has over the years naturaly over populated with pike now i havent fished for them in five years but when we used to go up we would walk round the water twice every day of the summer catching a fish with litraly every cast from a pound and a half up biggest was over 20 all caught on spinners it was normal to catch over 20 a day each and i can remember us having competitions and my mate was the better fisher who would always catch more he caught 47 pike one day and we would always come home with a few trout aswell but we always put the pike back so a pike a week for the pot would be much problem where i fish i dont think but i have no experience of them in river's .

A few big pike in a waters all you need it dont hurt to take jacks etc as is needed water needs to be controlled else they can get out of hand a couple of large predators will keep a water well enough.

We used to get 50p a pound at the gamedealers fifteen years ago i bet there still that now i eat em up to the three pond mark and find they taste alright not as bad as other freshwater fish.

When we were kids i can remember bream and rudd being sold in the fishmarket and they arent no where near as good to eat.

Barbel suprised me very tasty white meat and something i dont mind now and again

not eaten pike since the late seventies early eighties, lovely bit of fish to eat, best soaked overnight in salted water otherwise it can be a bit earthy, but thats probably already been mentioned.....
