I'm pointing out that his input to the team was similar to Zidane, who for me is the greatest midfield player ever... I just don't agree with the Beckham was nothing other than a marketing tool, his teammates at Madrid say other wise as do all of his UTD team mates, its a non argument...and yes he was a markeyers dream and tripled Madrid revenue the year he signed...win win for any club having him there

i agree zidane was one of the greats 

i just looked games to goals zidane was a goal evey 4.5 games 

beckham was a goal every 8 games

Yeah can't argue that . Beckham was really really good in his day , but he would never be in anybody (bar gary nevilles) all time greatest 11 . But their plenty alongside him we were very good but not at the top table .

I do agree that the buzz that followed him around wasn't something I was fond of but I could ignore that and enjoy watching him play . He was a top class winger and great from free kicks which saved man utd and England plenty of times.
