What to look for when choosing a pup

Recommended Posts

If you feed raw you should remove the kibble. If you aren’t removing the kibble then the dog isn’t on a raw diet. To transition to raw just stop feeding the dog kibble, don’t transition to raw slowly as this is not suitable for the dog’s stomach as the pet food moves through the dog at a different pace to the raw food, so never mix it. It’s possible to avoid calcium supplement once the dog is eating bone once you know what you’re doing but before its eating bone it will likely be deficient in calcium.

You wouldn’t feed an athlete shit food and expect them to live a healthy life and perform. Treat the dog as an athlete. Pet food kills your dog over time, they live a much shorter life on average and suffer health problems. Those who mix kibble are doing so to save money.

🤔Personally,...I don't think we should over-complicate the situation, when selecting a dog for rabbit hunting... Most lurcher types can handle this particular quarry,..obviously, some are better

Get someone else to pick one for u then moan like feck at them if its no good

It will push the bone through the dog undigested as the pet food expands in the dogs stomach

kibble digest quicker then bone and what would it matter if you feed kibble in morning bone on a night ?

Anyone bred a litter for a pup studied the litter for 8 weeks or so then made a well thought choice,  then passed the rest on, only to find your choice of pup was no where near as good as a sibling that you passed on.

What a pisser, but I guess it still proves your on the right track as far as your choice of sire and dam.

Can a really good strong bloodline miss a generation as far as producing exceptional litters ?

Last litter I bred I just kept the last one left, worked out grand but a bad injury cut her working career short, luckily I was given back one I had gifted out.

Black bitch was the one I kept, buckskin dog I got back. IMG_0678.JPG.167476dc7143bd445c4841859c9aafdf.JPGIMG_0261.JPG.eaac8beb44a9a1652149f99f72a21931.JPG

It will likely cause the same problem as if the dog has not passed the meal from the previous evening then it will have the kibble in it’s stomach

If raw works for you and yours great👍 personally I think some dogs do better on meat and biscuits, don't know about saving money, I could feed raw meat for free but choose to buy Aldi mince, tins of fish and decent biscuits as well etc

Depends on the kibble I suppose I obviously have bought too cheap as always gave mine the sheets.

Once went with gain 90 ? and I'm sure that effected the brain in some way.

Much more steady with raw and more responsive as well as packed on muscle, healthy coat it was all good on raw for mine, but I can only speak for my limited experience.

Majority of top level greyhounds get fed raw and kibble together if it caused an issue for performance it would’ve flagged up by now. I find my dogs always look & perform better when they have an amount of carbs in their diet, tried the full raw thing couldn’t hold their weight when worked hard
