mole catcher 1
After a break of 5 yrs from fishing i decided to get back out there and do it. the rivers round here are in one hell of a state after a 3wk period of flooding. After finding a quiet back drain that was showing good colour and not to much flow i cast my first dead bait sardine as close to the reeds as i could and this little beauty took a hold of it. Not a monster at 14.5 lb but still a very welcome guest to my landing net. also had this rather proud looking swan on the bit of water i was fishing, no problem to me just kept me company all day Quote Link to post

mole catcher 1
superb fish any piker would be proud of! do you ever plug / lure fish for them? Like i said ive had a 5 yr lay off from fishing but i used to fish all the time and yes i would spin and plug for them as well as wobbling deads. sadly i got the carp bug and spent each and every weekend for over 3 yrs fishing for nothing but carp and it killed my love of fishing compleatly. i sold it all off but kept the pike and course gear where it stayed in my loft till last week. i dont think i will get back to carp but this fish has given me the desire to get out there again but this time my 2 boys are at an age where they will be coming with me, as will my wife. Before i gave up i took her tench fishing on an old estate lake at 4am one morning. you know the scene, sun rising bubles fizzing and she cast a qube of luncheon meat in the margins no more than 4 ft off the rod tip. BUGGER ME SHE ONLY WENT AND LANDED A 7.4LB BEAUTY OF A TENCH that was it, she is hooked and has moaned at me to take her with me this yr so it looks like its going to be more of a family affair this season Quote Link to post

Aled 504
Nice pike MC and good to see you back on the river. Best stress relief going imho is a bit of fishing. My season kicks off on April the 1st cant wait to get back at them sea trout. Got to sit at the vice and tie some flies first. My son is a little bit too young to take yet but in a year or two i cant wait to take him to the small streams in the Brecon Beacons where it all began for me, my Father and my Grandfather.
