TOMO 26,123
Arnt these arch supports completely the opposite effect of a bare foot approach....? I thought the new thinking was to have no support and let your feet be free..

My kid studied gaits (I know, boring huh)but he reckons arch supports are helpful,I have some new boots so I am getting them,my feet are in good condition,I do some decent walks,we only get one pair of feet.I have seen feet of people who have never worn real shoes, they don’t look all that healthy. It’s an old man thing, as we get older our arch,s naturally drop, you may notice the toe next to your big toe protrudes further than your big toe and rubs on your footwear in later life this is a sign your arch’s are collapsing
terryd 8,412
Worn cheap wellies all my life but recently had to stick some insoles in them. Feet were killing especially after few miles on soft sand carrying weight. since putting insoles in been much better. So next wellies better get some decent ones

Right, spoke to the podiatrist today,he reckons they are hype and a fad,he went way over the top of my head chatting about foot flexion, stresses etc, etc, etc but it boiled down to barefoot shoes arent all that according to him, he has been examining and advising people on feet since completing his degree so it’s worth listening to him. They had Lowa trainers in there, never seen them before. Did you try those Lowa's Mack, I could do with some type of knee support mine are shot now even after relatively short walks
