I had a couple of years out of keeping animals to reset and re-evaluate, just went and got 2 new ram lambs. Ill fetch them on, keep the best and sell the other. Now to find a few ewes to go with whatever one I keep, not too many only a few. Pigs next and cattle (dairy bulls for veal) around spring when they have been born. How's your plans going on Wilf? Did you end up with pigs aswell or is that going into next year?

ryaldinhio 4,564
Moved the last 3 from the brooder to the hen house. With the big drop in temps over last few weeks I kept them in longer than I normally would. The hens seem to have accepted them without too much trouble. Couple of the turkeys are really big now. They need to be processed in the next couple of weeks. Considered doing the pigs pre-xmas but everyone is too busy so they will be going Jan as first planned. It's all very wet and muddy here now temps have come back up!!!! 1

I'm guna stick some wildlife cameras up to see. We do get rats here, not over run with them but with us backing onto a farm they are here all time. I've noticed a point where they have been getting in the external run and put a trap there, had one so far. No signs of them getting in chicken shed.

Got 3 dogs already, had 4. Lost one this year and it broke r lasses heart. 2 of these are knocking on now, 14yr old Westie and 10yr old lab so more heart ache to come. Think we guna take a break from having multiple dogs, just keep pip my lurcher once the other two pass.

Is it a fixed price for kill and butcher and you get them back in bags of ready to cook pork.

Years ago they used to give the pigs a bottle of guinness to there feed for about 8 to 10 days before they would butcher them . It added flavour to the meat .
