One thing we have learned/noticed is that whilst it is an effor, it isn't a MASSIVE effort. It's actually pretty easy. But no one ever tells you it's easy! The hardest part is the red tape and paperwork etc they try and get you with. Just registered my hens today as that is now mandatory from October 1st. Honestly the vegs take more input and effort than the animals so if you can keep a veg plot I guarantee you have the ability to keep pigs/chickens.

I think I could do the hard graft , but red tape makes my blood run cold . You're kicking the arse out of it . Absolutely top marks mate. 2

Mabye I should, I'm still learning! Do you keep boars for meat? I was put off by someone, a relative of a neighbour, who keeps pigs. Said...... "if you take one piece of advice don't have boars, nothing worse than having 3-4months of keeping a pig for it to give you a freezer full of meat that tastes like piss" It's always put me off, I always ask for gilts when I'm looking. Those pigs are tidy, Oxford Sandy Blacks or some derivative mate ? I had Tamworth x GOS and they looked very similar as well. Edited August 27 by WILF
