Seems to be a big up take for threads on off grid living or self sustainability so thought I would stick it in here lads because the 'living of land and game cooking' section doesn't get much traffic

I had that cross and they eat very well mate.

Free range pork is darker, not that pale anaemic, tasteless stuff you buy in the shop.

You will never eat shop bought pork again.

Enjoy, pigs a great animals mate.

Looking good.
You want to sort the water out for them. Try and get them using a small auto drinker that they can’t make to much mess with, otherwise they’ll be living in a muddy hole before you know it.

Few bits I need to sort like that, this isn't the long term pen if I keep em again. They are on here to turn it all over and make it a mess ready for turning into veg plots so don't mind too much. But food and water will be in troughs.

For water, make sure the container is fixed down or they will just turn it over all the time.

I used a post driven into the ground then fixed a cut down blue barrel to it so they couldn’t lift it.

I just bolted to the post through the side of the barrel (above the water line obviously ! Lol)

If water is handy to connect then they seem a tidy job mate, maybe freezing in the winter would be aggro ?

Its a major job for me to run mains water and not worth the expense, long hose pipe, a plastic barrel and just smash the ice in the winter seemed like the cheapest, most practical job to me but then again, I’m a basic kind of bloke ! Lol (and a bit lazy !) lol
