They are basically an old linebred bull cross in layman's terms as well, no gamer than a pure APBT.

The dogs you talk of,are trained from a young age in 'pens' with canned quarry,in the states,Latin America, Australia  etc your standard UK bred bull cross will struggle on a  boar its first time ,can get messy,unless helped out...it don't come natural to them,grab yourself a pair of bull crosses and come find out for yourself

Buddy, the foxy Charlie coursing dog , was best when he was hard weight and ran in the the wet , 85lb was his normal weight and he was only 26 inch

So all are trained in pens and you know for a fact? Not all folk bring their dogs on like that. And of course, just like many bull crosses will struggle on pigs, but any one worth it's weight in feed will get stuck in, they might not have the knack of finishing but they will get their feet wet regardless.

I agree, there used to be a member in here who some may remember called Burnie69……bumped into him at a hunt show and he had the biggest, baddest looking machine of a bull cross that must have been every ounce of 100lb

I will say however, I don’t think the very biggest dogs were running much……more dragging stuff out by the head ! Lol

I owned an ran proper bred first crosses both pitbull and wheaten bred out of big Irish coursing dogs none EVER came in at 100lb ever, I've had half crosses 28'' to the shoulder not make anywhere near 100lb.
