There is still Arabian leopards in Saudi, and I remember telling this tale on here before; A friend of mine, an English doctor, was travelling back from Riyadh to Jeddah when he found a recently dead leopard on the road. I asked if he informed the police, as you are supposed to do, but he said he didn’t as it was a jail sentence for killing one and he didn’t need the hassle he would go through , but he did show me photos. Ive done the same trip but never saw anything other than a few feral camels. My son did see two Arabian wolves hanging from a tree that Bedouin shepherds had shot. Cheers. Yes mate, they used to be widespread across Africa and Southern Asia into India, all that's left now are in Iran and North & West Africa. Most now survive in sub-Saharan Africa. It was once of the most widespread of all mammals but their numbers have dropped by almost 90%.

The monkeys had jockey's caps and silks on. I hope the greyhounds were well muzzled....could become a bit gory. Wish the camera had been clearer. 1

No on both counts. I think the monkeys were phased out long before I was born on animal welfare grounds. From the monkeys point of view it must have been strange hurtling along at breakneck speed over fences.

I can't believe that Victorian hunters of the day didn't have the sense to realise their hunting quotas weren't sustainable.

Possibility the marozi were hybrids ? At Belle Vue zoo in Manc circa 1950s there was a magnificent ligon, a hybrid between a lion and and a tiger. You mean liger or tigon mate? A male lion and female tiger offspring is called a liger and a tigon the other way around. Ligers are much bigger than tigons.

jukel123 8,433 Posted Tuesday at 12:55 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 12:55 I keep keep coming back to this point. But why do members get so irate about Greyman pursuing his hobby? He definitely does not need me to have his back. He's ferocious when he gets going and a match for anybody.lol. But gets loads of aggro. He tootles along, does his thing, not harming anybody. Why do people get so angry ? 2

And if big cats are so slutty, then why don't pumas and jaguars mate in the wild despite living beside each other?

Goly 879 Posted Tuesday at 13:10 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 13:10 I think we need a title change to this thread and hush call it Big Cats, we can all at least agree on something. I don't think anybody is suggesting that there's never been any escapees over the years, some that may have been covered up.
