I think Miks big lad was just shy of 90 (I may be way off) and that’s the best dog on all quarry I have ever seen.

Mates big bull x was a lump of a thing, no idea on weight but my bitch is around 75lb and he was certainly a lot heavier than her...an awesome animal on anything you put him on, serious dog and owned by a very serious dog man, I think he's on his 3rd generation off him now, not seen him in a while but still going strong and all from a very big powerful bull lurcher, changed my opinion in them pretty quick that's foe sure

Back in day, the day being 1980's is it was not unusual for dog lads to keep odd things in a freezer, some common some not so common. Everyone was skint and anything that could be done to earn a few bob was done. In our "community" a few lads had taught themselves the art of taxidermy by stealing books from the library. Why they did not just join the library and borrow the books I never understood but that was just how things were done.

Most dog lads seemed have houses full of stuffed animals back then. Not to my taste but I could appreciate the finer works however some were hilariously bad and resembled fauna that you would only see in the British countryside if you were tripping on acid.

I remember when one lads freezer packed in so he just dumped the contents. This made front page of the Evening Chronicle when the dismembered or full bodies of various species were found by a dog walker. A picture and the headline Horrific Evidence Found of Devil Worshipping on Chopwell Woods.

Jeffrey Dahmer was misunderstood mate.

Who's got all the Darcy books, it's in either Extreme Lurcher Work or the first edition of Now That's What I Call Lurcherwork. There's a big fcuk off blue bull/greyhound, a monster of a dog. It was an old fellas dog who  I used to lamp with, got rid when he got sent down. That must have been well north of 80lb.

Yeh, forgot the bloke who he sold it to but he used to buy dogs and sell them on. But yes that's the dog, it's pictured in the book.

Tigger didn’t have much bull (if any?) in there I don’t think mate, he was off Miks deerhound Sal and I think a lad who used to be on here from the north easts dog.

I think it was just a mixture all the way back of massively tested worker to massively tested worker and he ended up with this absolute machine of a dog.

f**k what a thread, havent seen a good old bull cross natter in a while, takes me back.

Bred a few decent bulls over the years, couple of the lads still have blood here from when I started over 20 year ago,one is a big specimen of a fawn brindle dog, good animal, hes down of a good lurcher dog I bread to a full greyhound bitch, the lad that owns him tried to serve him once but bitch never held unfortunately.

Had a few good bitches also, the first bitch I started breeding with was  a first cross bull greyhound, only 21 tts,she was a cracker, dark red brindle bitch, still her blood here, diluted a bit but still here, another bitch who's still with us through a few good pups few years ago,my mate wanted a dash of salami in the mix to my dismay, tho I found him a good saluki bull grey, decent animal, the pups worked out but weren't as rugged as the straight bull, the c**t I kept was a b*****d for sheep, brought up around them an still couldn't break him,I give up on the c**t an gave him to a boy up the country who's hunts the deer.

Now if got a totally unrelated wee bitch, mostly Wheaton with a bit of bull in there, got it for my son,but Iv took a shine to her lol

I could tell many more yarns but f**k this typing crack.

Yeah I remember seeing the dog on here abd you pointing me over to him when I was up there picking my bitch up off Haymin, I think Mik wad away at the time.

The dog I'm on about was a big bull x, my eyes were opened to what a "proper" bull x would do, but this lad done everything (accept hares), I've mentioned him a few times as he could turn his hand to most things, all the stuff you'd expect and then would work with ferrets... but was probably plus 90lb, it could run though, but it got worked all the time in whatever was there to run

Do you know of a white and brindle reverse 3/4 dog went up your country from down this way 7 or 8 years ago Francie?

He covered a few bitches up your end.

Winkhounds Wheaton x was like that, I wouldn’t say really big but a lump of a dog…..really nice quiet, well behaved animal in its kennel and around people etc and then a switch just flicked when it went to it’s work…..it used to leather gear mate.

Mik rated it as much as to try and take a line out of it to his bitch but it didn’t work unfortunately.
