jigsaw 11,875 Posted July 21, 2023 Report Share Posted July 21, 2023 After buying a few tubes of this epoxy,I "set"about fixing the handle to the stick,mixed the solution and applied it to the bolt,and inserted it into the drilled holes in both stick and handle ,attached the above to each other,...and wallah.....the glue hasn't set in 20 minutes ,...friggin sickened ,....anyone any idea as to why this may have (not) happened ...? comanche 3,039 Posted July 21, 2023 Report Share Posted July 21, 2023 The original Araldite that took 24 hours to set gave a far stronger bond than the 5 minute stuff you get now. Whatever claims those knock off epoxies claim on the carton have to be taken with a grain of salt . Give it time . I have had some Poundland stuff that didn't set and a mate's wife who was a chemist told me why . It was a technical answer l've forgotten but basically it was probably old.
