Jon Ashworth, Labour MP and Shadow Cabinet member called the law “heinous and vicious”. Angela Reynar, Labour MP and Deputy Labour Leader called the law “ obscene “. Yesterday Kier Starmer, MP and Leader of the Labour Party said when Labour get into power they will not rescind the law, they will keep it ! I'd support helping the hard workers to have kids with some sort of tax relief. My sister was a single mum, didn't see her struggling that much. My mum's retired, worked half her life in a mill and the other half on minimum wage in the care industry.....yet we were all fed proper food and clothed and she's comfortable in retirement. I'm not saying people aren't struggling, I just don't see the struggles we are led to believe are endemic in society. Starmer previously said he would scrap the law, but that was when it didn’t look like they would get into power, now it looks like they are nailed on to form the next government he’s done a screeching u turn and said he would keep it. If you earn over £50,000 you can choose not to get it or choose to receive it and pay a higher tax rate ..
