It could be that those sent away to Australia were not criminals at all. They were simply hungry and stole to eat.

Just trying to survive, you got transportation for stealing a chicken, different times.

They’re the ones laughing now whatever they was. Lol

I remember in the fifties the Australian government  were  short of workers and were a offering a ten pound passage to brits and their families. Some of our neighbours went. There was talk of my family going but my ma wasn't having it. I sometimes wonder where life would have led me if we had taken up that ten quid offer.

Think I would have a pack of staghounds for sure.

There's never enough time. You need twenty lives to do all the things you fancy.

Ain’t that the truth, imagine having two lifetimes, one as a practice run and one to really live as you want.Instead we get one lifetime, and one day we wake up and realise how much time we actually wasted that could have been put to better use.

I've always yearned for a working man's McNab. Course and kill a roe, net a salmon and screw the keeper's wife in the same day. One and two are fairly easy.  Number 3 is a bit of a challenge...maybe with a jump start.

Think I'll order my Mrs to go on a Thai marriage guidance course so she can learn how not to moan. Some hope.

Changing countries sadly doesn’t stop most ladies from complaining, you have to sift a lot of gravel to find a diamond.

From what l've read the reason  many minor crimimals were sentenced to Transportation wasn't the severity of their crimes . It was because they were tradesmen and tradeswomen  or agricultural workers .

Magistrates were working to an agenda to populate the new colony with useful citizens rather than the common criminals that had been sent out on the early boats.
