If we want to drink from muddy puddles like the niggers, then it would be free. Of course we shouldn’t have sold off our water companies to foreign hedge funds but to think potable drinking water should be supplied to our homes free of charge is naive. Cheers. We don’t pay water charges here. They tried to bring in water charging when I first moved here and almost to a man, the whole country told them to shove their bills up their arse and didn’t pay…..so they had to scrap it. The argument is, it falls out the f***ing sky almost constantly and government get more than enough money off people for everything else so they can provide a civilised country with water to drink ! What’s naive and not a little self defeating is people keep thinking they have no power over these things. 3
sandymere 8,263
Just another tory bonus for the rich payed for my working people, their hands in your pockets......................... Should have listened.. Water and energy firms are trying to 'Corbyn-proof' themselves against nationalisation WWW.INDEPENDENT.CO.UK With Labour gaining in polls and a general election looking more likely, investors and utilities are taking prospect of public ownership seriously

That’s fine if the water supply is nationalised, but the problem here is the water companies were sold off to foreign investors for a quick profit. So now the water companies are the same as the fuel , gas, electric, telephone companies…… if you want to use their services, you have to pay for it. Im not a great believer in nationalisation, I remember British Leyland and BT ! But in the case of water, well, we can get by without a car or telephone , maybe even without gas and electric, but water is the life blood of the human race so there’s a case to be made for re-nationalising the water supply. Cheers. Edited July 1, 2023 by chartpolski

Some of your posts are bang on mate but from time to time you lose the plot and appear a tad divvy . 1

dogmandont 9,856
Do any of you fellas think you already pay enough tax to the government that at the minimum you could expect clean drinking water without getting raped again for it. 5

comanche 3,045
My billThanks to water capture and recycling l'm hopefully not adding too much to the CEO of Southern Water's bonus. Actually l think the new CEO has been quoted as saying he would't take a bonus for his first year in the job. I should think not! His predecessor recieved a bonus of £550.900, which effectively more than doubled his salary in 2021 . 2021 was also the year Southern Water paid 90 million pounds in fines for discharging poo and piddle ( probably some loo paper and toilet chemicals too) into rivers and the sea along the South Coast . Apparently these fines were record breaking! Maybe the outgoing CEO's huge bonus was a reward for getting more penalty points than any other Water Authority . The Water Companies claim to be hindered by outdated 'Victorian' water and sewage systems. That is a pretty sh☆t excuse . Part of a great quote from a local article puts it into words better than l can. " lt was Southern Water who coined the term 'Victorian' ,by the way .l guess they've never had any opportunity to do anything about that in the last 122 years ,having to get by on shoestring budgets and paltry executive bonuses..."
