Wolfdog91 7,182
So end up doing the duck two was since the grill is an electric one and was slow and small. Air fried some with a lil bbq glaze and grilled the other ones. They where both season and stuff the same. Think what the pilot did was butterfly then put in some cream cheese jalapenos and then wrapped in bacon. Pretty good.we also did some potato salad, green beans and some jambalaya.. can't stand potato salad some jambalaya and duck for me. Reminds me of a good well done steak ( I know I know that don't make sense but when you have a gf like mine who wants her steak cooked into a pieces of shoe leather well, you gotta make the best of it )
steve t 934
Like that it says just add meat on the jambalaya pack. Here that would be advertised as a vegan meal
Wolfdog91 7,182
So not too much to report yesterday after lunch we basically just cleaned and sanded some stuff for painting so after that just kinda sitting around watching boats go by. Like this big heffier And a smaller fleet boat came bay and was playing Tetris with the barges we just dropped off Saw this abomination And this morning we cruised on down to this little ship yard to get some work done These farries look pretty cool. Remind me of battle ships Alot of the fleet boats around the area do a lot of hip towing and they are some little speed demons. Well as far as barges and toe boats go lol. And was asked to cook for the crew by myself today for lunch. They said they wanted spaghetti so something quick Not bad not bad and to make it better one of the big wings from th ship yard brought us some boudin and some cracklings

Wolfdog91 7,182
One of the barges we push in the dry dock getting repairs done So we got our crane fixed up and off we went. Was nice running without a tow for once, pretty sights. And just some random stuff going down the river Looks like a cot or something on this sand bar Random gutted out speed boat just left on the bank, people and their trash Random log tied to a tree that caught my attention Not sure what this is, looks like a little light house or old fire tower maybe Either a casino or hotel right by the river Made it to Baton rouge that night and tied up to this , well not sure what you'd call it. Was a old barge that had a few older boats that where out of service tired to. Acting kinda like a grave yard deal. Anyhow we just tied up to it and just sat around waiting for the fleet to get all our barges brought up. Had to go up and polish the brass horns so here my view from up top And biscuits. Well what we consider a biscuit apparently their more along the lines of what y'all would call a scone or a cake or something

Wolfdog91 7,182
Next two days where pretty quiet, just sitting around in the grave yard waiting. Had a wood duck and her ducklings floating around us. Surprised one of the car didn't snatch a duckling honestly And for thkse curious this is how I set up my work vest. Pretty similar to how I set up my body armor in the army actually..just this doesn't weight 35lbs also it's more of a body recovery device more then a life preserver lol. Girlfriend is always asking " you wearing your body finder ? " But yeah water activated rescue light, whistle, I added a mag pouch to hold various stuff. Mainly my head light. For working at night but also markers tie wire ext . Then my radio , intrinsically safe flash light and my work gloves Just a quick size comparison. Had amone if the smaller fleet boat pull up and and tie off to our bow to get in the grave yard barge and completely even with us they only take up 1/3rd of our bow. So this is one of the decommissioned boats and it's a neat type. It's called a jack up boat. You probably noticed most of the tow boats have wheelhouse sitting pretty high up to allow the captain or pilot to be able to see over the barges. Well in some areas due to either water or bridge construction their too high to go under bridges that's where these come into play. See the wheel house sits on a hydraulic ram basically and can raise up and down to her under bridges. Pretty cool imo And just me trying to practice my photography skills Windows look almost like paintings don't they We got the call all our stuff was in feel ready to be built so off we went So this is what is called a fleet. Don't know 100% the exacts but basically it's just an area where barges are stored and organized buy the smaller boats till us line haul boats come to pick them up
Wolfdog91 7,182
Wonder what this little contraption is ? Not the best picture but this is pretty cool to watch. Basically the boat will catch one head like at the top of the bargers and use it to pivot them in the river and mate them up almost PERFECTLY Their playing Tetris with these. Remember in class we spent two weeks working on a fleet boat in Houston and seemed 7/10 times the barge we need to pull out would be at the very back of the teir so we'd have to pull out 5 to get one While they where getting our two ready we had to go to shore real quick to get some supplies at the dock . These little shamrock boats act as taxis for us basically Quick lunch One of the guys made these little stray berry blue berry muffins deals And back out to get fuel and water and off load trash to the refuel barge Only about 91° with 80% humidity, still ain't hot yet but it's got me sweating a little lol.
Wolfdog91 7,182
Next day the mate had taken out 10lbs of ground beef and since we where doing crew change he asked me to make something for lunch . Welp 10lbs of found beef decided to double up. Half went to tacos and the other went to a half assed lasagna I made with some left over spaghetti sauce I made two days before 5
Wolfdog91 7,182
And everyone said they really liked it. Thought it was pretty half assed but either they where half starved ,they have no taste buds or I'm a decent cook. Idk lol. All o know there as this much left after three minutes Any way fined crew change got our two rigged up and up river we went Leaving baton rouge, an funny enough I'm only like an hours or so from my house Check out this old paddle boat. That's a a modern tow boat on the lower right Tug boat Crane barge
