Irish Lurcher 1,013
Cracking pics pal, whats weight is the big brown lad in the first pic. Why so many dogs on one coyote. Quote Link to post
kc1 10
the weight of that hound is 90 lbs, that coyotes went around 60 lbs. coyotes don`t hole up, so some of my chases go over 6 hrs. i like to try to get all my hounds some good running, that`s why i sometime run a few hounds. Guest mush
Cracking pics pal, whats weight is the big brown lad in the first pic. Why so many dogs on one coyote. LOL theres only four hounds in the picture, if it was a fox before the ban you wouldn't have been able to see the fox as there would be to many hounds in the picture. Quote Link to post
Guest mush
coyotes don`t hole up, so some of my chases go over 6 hrs. good pictures looks fun. 6 hours I would have to have a few good lurchers to end it quicker how do keep up with the hounds, on foot or 4x4? Quote Link to post

Dont hunt with hounds, never have, never will, just asking why so many hounds as it seems like over kill to me. Quote Link to post
Guest mush
should think its to cover more ground when trying to pick up the trail and stay on the line, and more hounds the easer you can hear them to no which way they are going. Quote Link to post
kc1 10
if i had more open country to run a greyhound, then they would be able to catch a yote. the land around here is mostly wooded, so you need scent hounds. alot of people in the mid-west run stags for yotes, but still run 3-4 at a time to dispatch a coyote. as for smaller dogs they are useally dinner for coyotes. around here the coyotes kill labs, retreivers and terriers alot. a person down the way just had 2 of their jack russells killed by a yote the other day. it`s all about the chase, not the kill. Know where your coming from about the chase and dog work, some types of lurcher would work with your hounds even on wooded land. Quote Link to post

moter poacher 2
thats like a night out with some lads of here, four dogs on a rabbit baying at it at that good pictures though do you have a dog that would hold them or kill them,or you just shoot them mate Quote Link to post
kc1 10
yes, the big hound in the photo does kill yotes. the others will hold them at bay till i get there, then i just let them go to run another day most of the time. Quote Link to post
