BIG SWEDE 0
My dog's always carried them just behind the shoulders, if he doesnt happen to grab them there he'll pin them down until he's got the right hold. His retrievings spot on though unless theres another dog out then he'll make me walk a couple of yards! My younger dog's showin all the same sign's with his retrieving i just hope it stays the same way? Link to post
Magpie 102
It took my bitch a little while to develop her technique. She's now pretty consistent with her across the shoulder style grip. After being kicked a few times shes found it to be the best method. She's very soft mouthed so everything is live back to hand. I guess if the rabbit is dead it doesnt matter how the dog carries it. Interestingly though, she retrieved a shot hare last week and she chose a throat hold. I'm guessing your mates dog had taken a few kicks as a pup and found that by killing them and holding them by rear end would prevent it from happening again. Or has it always been hard mouthed? If the MODS deem this pic inappropriate please feel free to remove it. Link to post

I think the dog had a look at charlie some time ago and was nipped, could be that reason. Link to post
