Her problem was she is too good at killing hares. In Spain a course under a minute doesn't count and she kept killing in under a minute so had to keep running hares through each round until she'd taken the edge off and then she still beat all comers, towards the end of the comp she'd run twice as long as the other and gotten broken ribs from a collision and pretty much wrecked her feet. I wouldn't have run a dog in that condition but they hoped with the edge off she'd get through to the final. Alas it wasn't to be. Serious reply sandymere do think galagos have the same coursing brain as a saluki x do they sit tight when goings tough or do they try finish quick? how do they compare to a whippet greyhound fast at them or somewhere between the two? Do they line breed across there and is there certain lines known for certain attributes or indeed faults? 1 Quote Link to post

Deerhunter1 771
Can see all the dust being kicked up when the bitch is running, I think if UK dogs were asked to run on ground like that you’d see a lot more jackers over here as well to be fair 3 Quote Link to post

Experience is key, more they run the better they get brain wise, definitely up and atem but they stay well. Speed wise slower than a grey but soon leave a whippet. Fair few lines, some very old family lines going back many generations others based on what is producing. Both my bitches are double bred to a dog that consistently produced winners, capote, and out of a bitch line famous for killing, charlana killed 10 hares in two days, killed every hare she ran bar one in a competition as killing most in under a minute, much like the Africa bitch. When you consider the law they give it takes some doing to make up the 100 +meters then connect in under a minute repeatedly. There's many thousands bred every year in Spain with lots of competitions, very big over there compared to here. Just brought in a pup, arrived last night, double bred to a national winner 3 years ago, Farouge who's daughter won last year and granddaughter won this year with a line to capote. Lost a bit of weight in transit but soon put it back on and should grow like a weed. Cazador 4 months. Capote. Farouge. 8 Quote Link to post
thefensarefarbutistillgo 2,482
Sandy have you ever thought of trying a well bred coursing dog from this country over your old galgo bitch or you just going to stick to them ? It could only improve them I think and you could send a few pups back over there and see how they get on, the Spanish would be over the moon with them and would soon be trying to find studs in this country to mix into there “pure” galgos Quote Link to post
