Guest mush
well frank that was more interesting than anything i've read or heard about Sooty Sam which adds up to a big fat 0 seems the only thing he is well known for is a stud. Had a look at MBs web site and some of the pictures of the dogs catches of six or seven rabbits, is that good for a whippet or is that normal ? the ones i've seen were about the same for catching with the odd good number . minion 29
I've never met him but am sure Mike Brown is a good guy. Mike is a sound lad & a phone call or meeting with him to see how passionate he is about his whippets would show any of the doubters this. Perhaps I am being a bit harsh. I thought he bred alot more than that. Perhaps I sould have got my facts right before opening my mouth. I have never herd anyone say a bad word against him who has met him and that says alot. I will need to make my mind up if I ever meet him myself. I don't know alot about whippets and whippet lines. I only have one whippet at present and she was bought for rabbiting and hopefully bagging a few hares next season. You seem very clued up and I have no doubt they are all famous bloodlines. Im sure I will hear more of them in the future if I get into either racing, coursing / lure coursing but at the moment I am concenrating on training my pup. She is a year old now and I will be giving her a few runs shorly. I have been working on her obediance for the past few months and hop it is all going to come together now in the field. blackwhippet 7
Minion, at least you`re honest mate , take a look on the whippet forums , you`ll find lots of good advice on there, away from the 60 rabbit a night lurchers and 8 out of 8 coursing dogs that seem to prevail on the lurcher sites Quote Link to post

minion 29
How she doing with the recall Minion? "Touch Wood" but she is doing really well. I really woked on it and during the day she is spot on. Instantly comming back when I whistle. I've had her on the lamp a few times for the odd run and she was straight back. Occasionally she takes loner than I would like but I'll get there. I think the problem was I expected too much too soon. I was comparing her to my lurcher when she was young. I got lucky that my lurcher trained really easy. But, I didn't have two young kids when I was training Tess. Not an excuse, but had I managed to train the pup as much as I put in with the Lurcher I may have got there quicker but things change. The whippet is great with the kids and around the house. I will just need to see how she gets on in the field now. Either way she will have a home for life. All my dogs have been pets that I work, not dogs puerley kept for work. Quote Link to post

Pennymeadow Whippets 0
So what line in your opinion produced the most successful coursers ? Pre ban obviously I might aswell start learning now lol Coursing under rules pre ban Banatay/Laguna/Terichline/Chyton/ but imo the best single coursing dogs pre ban were Whats Behind The Mask/Skylark Majestic/Ultra Vixen & Bellagosie they were all one litter out of Special Little Rat (Sooty Sam X Gorwynne Glisando) & by Banatay Bismarck who himself holds the breed record for producing winning coursing whippets. After a stunning coursing career Whats behind the mask was retired due to a crippling injury but became one of the Top three coursing stud dogs. His three litter sisters entered The National Whippet Coursing Hall Of Fame (After being top whippets for three consecutive seasons). Quote Link to post
