I'd say that's a pretty fair description to be honest mate... so many idiots have a dog now for the status and not because it is the right dog for them... why have a highly driven potentially dangerous dog about if you've no idea how to handle it or what it needs.... 6

Ah see that’s the difference , a wire head pointer if provoked , like any medium sized dog , make a mess of things . but never forget that poor beautiful child in Liverpool , who was killed by her uncles apbt , she was decapitated. Can a collie , or a cocker spaniel do that?

Aussie Whip 4,077
I agree you should be allowed to own a protection breed but you need to have an apprenticeship with dogs before owning one. The dogs were doing their jobs, the cops were pathetic.

The popularity of bull breeds, guarding breeds, and now exotic livestock guardian breeds is driven largely by wanting power at the end of the lead. 99% of people have no use for them and are attracted to them because they’re a bit of a level up. It’s like having a nice motor or a rollex. Status is a very appropriate term. Some lads can handle them, but most just make me shake my head. I expect I’ll be shooting a cast off Caucasian before long. I just hope it doesn’t take it causing life changing injury to someone before the decision is made. 5

It doesn’t trust anyone. I genuinely hope the dog comes right. But it belongs in the mountains. Not England.
forest of dean redneck 11,518
Who in their right mind would walk 2 of those flock guardian types at same time ? They not going hold 1 back let alone 2!
THE STIFFMEISTER 15,604
I had this discussion the other day . When things like this happen , there’s always the usual “it’s the owner , not the dog “ “bull breeds are nanny dogs” I was lucky growing up , I seen every serious dogs from a young age , kept properly and worked properly . As I child I regularly saw a dog that was closer to a fighting dog than a runner , but was a lurcher , a mix of grey , apbt , wheaten and staff do it’s job at the end of a dig or down the beam . that dog lived in a chain and whenever I went near it , I got slapped on the head . “ never ever go near that Thing boy “ . it’s sole purpose was to take things that lived in the ground apart . Today , he’d be in some ones living room . people who bleet “it’s the owners” should be made to watch vids of pit bulls tearing pigs into pieces on the plough , maybe then they’d think twice about having Tyson or Sasha rolling around on the couch with their 8 year old .
Borr 5,704
There's obviously too many dickheads with capable dogs, I'm sure a lot would be better off with a bullet especially if it stops a kid getting maimed or killed. I just came out of screw after meeting the friendliest ever staffy, guy told me he's ex assist dog for autistic children, got more kids chatting than any adult could, he'd was officially recognised by hospitals etc. Anyway just shows what good owner ship can bring out of an animal....
Deker 3,478
If the owner had done what he was told it would never have happened! I feel sorry in some ways for the dogs, but blame lies with the owner!!!!
