What's the actual benefits of cold water swimming and ice bath ect ? I actually have the Wim Hof book , just haven't got round to reading it yet.

Well I haven't read much of the science but reduces inflammation in the body which is connected to physical and mental health. Releases dopamine and endorphins too I believe...

Never done an organised swim but have had a few cold dips, there’s a big lake by me that has an area sectioned off for wild swimming I may join this year as I want to get the grandkids swimming due to living on the boat ?

Henleaze lake mate ?

If it is waiting list as long as your arm wild/out door swimming has really taken off.  Fishing is banned now so they swim the whole of the lake they even turned the willow swim into a beach and were having a jacuzzi installed. Lovely place, if you get the chance buy the book on the history some brilliant ariel pictures pre war of the area and Johnny Weissmuller did a diving exhibition down there in the 40's thousands turned up to watch it! Grew up in lake road so have some fond memories and tons of stories about the place as most Meaders do ?

Remember climbing the railings and diving off the cliffs from a very Earl age mate, 76 when it nearly dried up, night fishing with an old bycicle lamp on your float tip until the battery’s ran out, probably spent a large percentage of my youth there as a kid that and badock was the nearest thing to the countryside we ever saw ??

Same mate. Old man Venn who had the land/allotment at the side of the lake Southmead end didnt even own it just moved onto it and claimed it as his own. And there is a lane runs all along the back that belongs to the lake that the residents have taken over squatting rights of. Cleared the shallow end of weed once found 2 opened safes and 7 push bikes also fishing at night hell of a splash and two bags were launched into the lake they floated up to where we were fishing and were full of stamp albums. Being kids we took them to the police never to be seen or heard of again. Swimming in there made you stink though my Mum always knew "youll get tangled in the weed and dragged down" was always the scare story used by parents to keep the kids from going over there?
