jigsaw 11,863
We are getting a lot of small 6 inch to half a pound trout lately and have great difficulty dehooking g them, even with a disgorger, has anyone used barbless while on the trout, when their real small the mouth open has a bundle of worm and it's hard to make out where exactly the hook lies ,....I'm a casual angler,do a bit now and then ,and it's not good to be damaging the smallies , Quote Link to post

Gilbey 1,434
Crush a few barbs as a experiment With bigger trout at night or whatever there's no messing about, just follow the line down with your finger and pull it out 1 Quote Link to post
BEARINATOR 2,867
Micro barbs are good as well for worm or maggots and less fiddling about unhooking. Barbless you will lose more worms and that and lose more bites 1 Quote Link to post
Whispering Whiskey 66 1,071
Maybe something like this, a long thin disgorger? Quote Link to post

Greyman 28,286
Regarding keeping worms on barbless hooks just use a length of rubber band simular in size and colour to your worms and thread on last it will hold the bunch in place and look natural a rubber maggot will do the same 3 Quote Link to post
hambone 950
Small trout are buggers for swallowing baits, if on a river try an keep in touch with the drift or if a lake keep a tight line and hit bites early. This advice is not so good if your after bigger stuff. Quote Link to post
DIDO.1 22,661
Use bigger hooks if they are all swallowing it straight down. I only ever use barbless, you should never loose a fish because of barbless but so much easier to unhook from clothes, fingers and eyeballs. Use a tiny square of elastic band to keep worms on, just hook it on after your worm. 3 Quote Link to post
jigsaw 11,863
I'll try all that thanks,I'm a rank amatuer where fishing is concerned but I enjoy the odd day through out the summer Quote Link to post
