Daveo 61
Do any regular guys, I.e not catapult craftsmen make there own frames? I couldn’t find a style I really like so I drew out my own design and made it. best think I ever did I’ve refined the type now and my latest was my first attempt at a clipped frame. photo shows before it was finished anyone else made their own?

Daveo 61
there are some stunning things being made out of super exotic materials id be keen to see what average not necessarily professional, gifted folks can make! some frames are far too good to actually shoot, what I make are rough a f**k by comparison but they work for me.

That one you have made looks great to me mate like you say if they work for you that's all that matters. I admit to not been any good at making things and now with the vast choice of catapults on the market its easier to buy and try were has when in year's gone buy the millbro was the only shop bought catapult we could get our hands on though to be honest the catapult was only a stepping stone to us getting our first air rifles.

I think those of us of a certain age have gone full circle mate. small mooching dogs, catapults etc. the do gooders and law changes have seen to that. more mooching, pot filling like when we first started.
terryd 8,385
I used to think we don't hunt for the pot but for the sport and free grub is a bonus but with todays prices the reality of it now is a free dinner is more than welcome. Fish pigeon rabbit hare duck geese what ever is now more than welcome plus the enjoyment of the sport its self so win win. When I used to work in the woods and was too knackered to make sarnies I would take tin rice pudding with the sultarnas in it. Not had a tin for like 20 years so nipped into tesco. £2.40 per tin ! I left it there bloody redicolous
Greyman 28,179
Done tons from natural wooden Y to some nice carvings over the years just think when you can buy one for a tenner from China banded up, it becomes a bit less of a necessity Edited May 23, 2023 by Greyman
Greyman 28,179
On the subject of naturals I often cut myself a nice hazel thumb stick when out walking then eventually take the Y bit off the end and use as a fork been thinking of making a thumb stick catty for a while
terryd 8,385
I am still at the point when any deviation from what I’ve been practicing with will take me another two years get any where close to target
