There definitely isn't as many lads out putting work in front of dogs anymore so it only makes sense there would be less good dogs, although there's always been bad dogs and plenty of them.  Gett

Personally I think every pup is a gamble, nothing is garenteed, easy to spoil certain types... thats why it's best to breed your own, that way then you will know the faults as well as the strengths ...

Another problem is lads having low standards. Seen a post on Facebook the other day of a dog working a fox, to be honest I wouldn't keep the dog in my pens as it was very poor but in the comments for

Idiots such as these pricks certainly don't help..

Exactly mate, I gave my last working terriers away as it’s coming on top all over. As for people breeding pups for cash instead of trying to retain quality gets me, I gave 6 out of 9 lurcher pups away as charged 3 people to cover the injection and chip charges and my mates called me mad

Good dogs get bred if your involved with the right lads

That's fine, but what if you walk out alone, and don't mix with many that breed lurchers ,which can happen, then try sift through the tales and bullshit ....and finding a specific type you'd fancy is not an easy task ,....and lads that don't know you, might not trust you,...

In alot of cases your best off doing your own thing 99% of the time I go by myself I prefer it that way..

Best way to do it get a bitch pup off a good bitch you’ve seen run and breed your own, it’s the only way you can be 100% what you’ve got in the kennel because even some decent lads can let kennel blindness get the better of them

Been out the game about 8 years lost my dogs but now looking for a new pup. I can’t believe how little there is about and the quality of pups is shite. Please someone help me!!!!prove me wrong

It's probably good that less pups are being bred, hopefully the ones left are in the hands of serious hunters and while it might be harder to find one, the working ability and health will be in them. Less unsatisfied owners and less inferior dogs destined for the pound or ground.
