Your right what your saying and there are groups out in Scotland sterilising as many ferals as they can and captive breeding programs but this adaptive behaviour is also what makes cats so successful at the end of the day domestic cats were once a wild species that just found it easier to scrounge off of fishermen in ports before moving into our homes and the kellas cat is an example of a new species merging which has happened with cats for years there are 16 sub species of leopards alone living in every environment on earth ?

But the Keller wouldn't be a new species. It would be a hybrid. Another few generations, of breeding with housecats, and the Keller will be indistinguishable from your average moggy.

Regarding their adaptability. Yes, on one hand you could look at it that way. On another, you could say that the adaptability of one cat, will be downfall of another. If house cats weren't so successful, (with a lot of help from man), then the wildcat would not be in danger of disappearing forever.

I think it's great Greyman does his thing and doesn't give a f**k about his critics. Carry on carrying on Greyman.

Id trap it and take the cage to Notton Lane with a note saying " ave that soppy bollocks " ?

Feeders have been there years...get the odd rat but they don't last long,  either the cat or the airgun sorts em out ....I find the cover encourages the birds more

I've seen Kellas cats mentioned and videos of them etc and dna says they are hybrids between ferals and sw but at what point could/would a feral start evolving into a bigger cat? Some of them ferals in Australia are pretty bloody big and there's no Scottish crosses over there?

Different diet in Australia mate but most ferals I get ain’t much bigger than a normal cat when near houses and that but some on the moors seem to get bigger so could be longer distances to cover makes them get taller

As I’ve tried to say on here many times I am just a foot soldier have no real education but just find things on my travels and pass them on to those more knowledgeable than myself so this is just my opinion but if the kellas cats are breeding true to type I,e size and colour and are identifiable through  DNA then surely they are already part way to forming a species could do with someone like born to help explain really but that to me is evolution happening in front of us ??

Adapting to prey species could also have a bearing on things over time I,m guessing ie the ones around the factory’s are living of scraps and the odd mouse or rat hence the rubbish tip being alive with them were as those in the wild will probably need to hunt and bring down live food ?

DNA is identifying that they are part house cat, part S Wildcat lad. A liger, is not a new species. Just a hybrid. Same with Kellas.

You get the odd big rat/fox, are they "adapting" or "evolving"? Or have they just been doing well for themselves

That’s it though with ferals mate, even wild boar ain’t that much bigger than the farmed ones so not really adapting or evolving and they have been here for years

It's like anything. If there is more prey and less competition, animals will thrive. Ferrals in Australia for example.

Then look at the red fox. Parts of America, they are a lot smaller than fox's here, but still a red fox. DNA makeup is still the same.

i think male ligers are sterile so the line would not continue the same as Kellas
