We've got the "whats cooking" thread going, so thought I'd chuck up a thread of places worth visiting for decent grub, location etc... might give people a sway when they're visiting somewhere new etc.

On the way back a little treat to finish the day, stopped in South Sands Hotel, near Salcombe... cream tea...the correct way, cream first! Lol

Well f**k all that eggs with a bit of lettuce at a pony a pop, used to be a caravan in a lay-by on Pembury bypass near Tunbridge Wells, old boy looked like Abe Lincoln and his Mrs ran it. 18oz Cu

I did a horrendous faux pas once,I was about 18 and fresh out of Sunderland where my definition of fine dining was an egg on my beans and chips.

in Paris in a resto and the waiter put a saucer with a small bowl of clear liquid a slice of lemon, and a napkin beside me,I thought “Ah,Clearwater soup?” So I squeezed the lemon into the bowl and drank the finger bowl.

My mate in the valleys , he got a job in a nearby con club, he was invited to have a feed at the buffet , he found the big prawns a bit tough , as he crunched his way through the shells. Later then with a gifted apparently very expensive red wine he poured himself and I some in a pint glass and topped them up with lemonade lol, he, as all of us, now has an appreciation of good grub and how to cook , and he knows a fair bit about wine too.

Ive eaten in pretty much all the top London restaurants over the years at one time or another and have narrowed it down to a small list of 7 or 8 that i'll use regularly......theres a massive difference between posh and classy ....classy restaurants dont have to be posh but posh restaurants have to be classy and thats where most poncey snobby gaffs get it wrong in my opinion.

If you're looking for some tasty spots, I've got a few suggestions you might enjoy. First, if you're into farm-to-table dining, you should check out some places on https://www.mklibrary.com/best-sacramento-restaurants/ . They have a great list of spots focusing on fresh, local ingredients—a real treat if you love knowing where your food comes from!
For something different, how about exploring some hidden gems in smaller towns? I've found that sometimes the best meals come from those little family-owned restaurants that only get a little hype but deliver unique flavors. There's this one place I stumbled upon during a road trip – it had the best homemade pies ever, totally worth the detour!

Wedding anniversary coming up .

10 years , when we got married we went away for a weekend and one of the nights stayed in an up market boutique long established hotel and restaurant , witchery by the castle in Edinburgh,

got an email , reminding us of the anniversary, discount rates applied etc , moving soon , back up north again and the stars were aligning for a revisit .

paid 500 notes last time for a 5 course evening meal for the two of us , we overnight in one of their 7 suites and breakfast the next morning .

same in August this year on our anniversary date ? 1700 sheets

1700 quid for an overnight stay

absolutely insanity

Great ain't it mate,

Was there with Marie a few weeks back when we took Isla to watch a gig up there... It's a small chain but clever menu and based on Indian street food, we really enjoyed it...

Get yourself to either Sindhu or Benares mate, best I've eaten in personally
