But he didn't voice his own personal opinion on the BBC did he? He didn't use his prime time slot to get maximum coverage. He posted a tweet, something anyone can do to. If you feel strongly about something so wrong, then why should he keep quiet just because his employer says so?? Its about standing up for what you believe in, not just dipping your head & towing company line. Good on him for having the balls.

If its in his contract its in his contract . My Mrs works in care and she isn't allowed to tweet or post on Facebook whatever she wants . She has her views on refugees and keeps it off the Internet.

If he wants to voice his opinion then he should quit the BBC where his contract won't allow it . If he feels that strongly about it then maybe he should become a politician aswell .

Yes there are scumbags in every colour and nationality . But we still don't have room for anymore migrants ?. Not sure how difficult a concept that is.  And if we do decide to squeeze some in it

He signed a contract ,which means he agreed to abide by all the terms and conditions of that contract ...if his personal views meant he thought he had no other option than to speak out and break his contract then surely the honourable thing to do would be to accept the consequences without fuss ,but maybe the size of his paycheck ,the profile of his job (which allows him to sell his soul for the corprate fortunes he gets )means he will attempt to have his cake and eat it .

I think, so far, its being classed as breach of bbc guidelines rather than something actually written in contract law. And I guess if you feel passionately enough about something then sometimes you have to think f**k the contract, not allow yourself to be dictated too & say what you think despite the consequences.

It's more about free speech & the BBC cherry picking who can & can't get away with personal opinions (Chris packham anyone??) The tories don't like what Lineker said, so they pressure the BBC into cancelling him, that's what's concerning. It's hardly like hes Trevor Mcdonald using position on news at 10!!

Same as my old woman . A few years ago a van driver at our place who had were he worked on his Facebook profile and made a comment about those illegal immigrant's who died in the container his comment was that's 36 we don't have to keep they called him back to the depot and sacked him on the spot then sacked a manager day's later for sending a joke about it in private messenger. Even though i hate the torys and would never vote for them to compare them to Germany under Adolf Hitler was out of order and its right he has got the boot.

The free speech is utterly irrelevant. Linekar would have know where near the presence he currently has if it wasn’t for his bbc work, he retired 30 years ago. He has been told implicitly to stop wading into politics and he hasn’t. Simple. Not about free speech it’s about respecting your boss and the organisation you work for and the fact the bbc are (or at least should be) the only truly impartial broadcaster around due to the way they are funded (licence fee). Go and work for someone else and you can say what you want Gary you crisp munching, socialist, jug eared c**t. And you can take Packham with you

The same folks who are always moaning about the state this country's in & how we all need to man up!! Talk about a contradiction

Problem is you cannot express your opinions or views at work anymore as you will receive your P45 prompto.

PC rules with all employers now having strict policies in relation to LBGTQ , diversity and inclusion.

I remember the good old days when you could say whatever you wanted and nobody batted an eyelid, future generations destroyed this with wokism.

You lot are discussing the rights and wrongs and the morals of free speech..... you are trying to bring reason to the age of bullshite and lies. Fckin hell the BBC/politicians and celebrities would agree that a man in a wig is a 'real woman' just to keep recieving their pay cheques.

Lineker is a left wing scumbag who lives a life of luxury with numerous houses and a massive fortune..... and believes the ordinary working class man should pay the price for his left wing morals.

No matter what the rights and wrongs of it just be glad he's getting some stick. You are trying to bring reason to a world of agenda and lies.

To me, it’s not so much the free speech aspect; it’s what he inferred.

Something like 83% of the country wants the illegal boats stopped, so the government comes up with a plan and Liniker likens it to the mass murder of 6 million people by the Nazi’s.

Surely if he’s such a good broadcaster, he’d be aware of Goodwins Law ?

”As soon as someone mentions Hitler or the Nazi’s in an argument, they have lost that argument “

When Andrew Bridgend, a Tory MP said almost the exact same thing, the left howled for him to be sacked.

Now that’s what I call hipocracy ?

Cheers.

The government plan is completely unworkable, and they know that. But that doesn't matter to them, they're not arsed about actually stopping the boats or lorries, they just want to be seen to look like they're doing something as a stick they can beat Labour with & say "well what are you going to do"? (BTW whilst I'm left leaning I'm certainly no labour supporter).

it is as simple as this poor peoples opinions do not matter.he is rich and knows better than all of us.rich is right and poor is wrong.it is only due to the fact that the really rich want our country destroyed and he is saying the right thing that he is getting away with murder.still should be sacked and all other presenters that agree with him should also be sacked.
