Had a whole load of them move into a large local hotel car park, and as the hotel residents left more caravans turned up. 

The hotel lost a fortune as paying guests didn't want to park in a gypsy enclave or stay next to a gypsy encampment!

And  like I said at beginning of thread UK got more important things to worry about than few travelling people on a car park and I'm sure the won't stay long unlike the immigrants that will be poncing everything they can get .

My grandparents were from traveller backgrounds, came south hop picking from Newcastle areas and around. My grandad kept birds, finches, bugies etc. I’m as straight as they come, reliable around a pound note and also women.don’t touch fags, drugs etc. look after my family and wife. Will help anyone out. It upsets me to see the way these Irish act. Dirty shitehawks

was working on a road 20 odd yrs ago, under pinning the brace the kerbs were layed along,right next to aload of tidal reens....one side coned off set of traffic lights each end....there was a site up the road,some  cheeky young cnuts came through in an old XR4 knocking all the cones up in the air, myself,my cousin was in the trench,my uncle driving the old  3cx,they hit a pallet of kerbs and the car flipped and  landed upside down in the reen.... unfortunately it didn't kill the silly fucks few weeks later they stole a roller we was keeping on a farm down there....my Uncle Jimmy tipped up,asked "wtf is going on?" we told him the gypos had taken it....he dragged his younger brother out the machine and started flying towards the camp from memory he flattened 2/3 vans ,couple of the little yards ..they couldn't give the roller back quick enough,blaming someone they asked to leave ,f***ing  maggots ,the arse drops out of em when you give some back,not one man on that site would stand toe to toe with Uncle Jim..I've no problem with the Romany,my Nan was born on the road,but settled and was put into service start of WW2...it's the Irish lot who tip up ,float from place to place,causing shit for the half decent lads on sites by theiving ,fly tipping ,ripping old folk off....I have no time for them....I f**k them off when they come to site asking for stuff,they don't even have to open their mouths

Was parked up near some irish over 30 years ago now and to say it was mental at times is no understatement, we had wars and some really funny times with a bit of human kindness towards other human beings chucked in. A few days after we had pulled on our site a few "lads " from the irish site started to drive through our site fast at night and were acting the cnut,the next day i went over to a trailer which had a fire outside and a few men folk around it and asked the old fella to have a word with the young lads about driving through the site like cnuts, the young lads were sat around the fire and the old fella looked at them and then looked at me and said " just whack em ,beat the fecking heads of the black guards if there doing that to your people" ,he then called them all out for it and made me a cup of tea . i ended up staying the rest of the day with them all around the fire and he had a coloured cob which he let my misses have a ride on,she was a very competent horse woman and the irish fella said to her "if you can ride him to your site Mandy,you can keep him and that's a promise ".ok she only had a rope head coller to control him with and the horse let her ride him off,but no matter how hard she tried to stop him and stear it to our site ,when that fella called his horse back it went to him...We lived by them for just under a year and got to know some of them really well and like i say we had some real funny times like when i got blagged into driving a couple of there woman to a jumble sale in a escort van,i shit you lot not there were about 6 woman and more than that kids that climbed into it and each and every one of the women felt in her duty to lean over from the back grab my face and give me a big old kiss for "being such a lovely fella", the one in the passenger seat felt it her total duty to cover my face in bright red lip stick and slobber and we set off. On arrival they unloaded like a dozen or more irish travelling woman and their kids can and headed into the village hall, i sat in the fecking van as i might have been daft taking them all,but i wasn't stupid enough to go into a jumble sale hall with them. Yes it did kick off in there over some pair of knickers for 30p or something and after a while of car park madness (i was quite enjoying the whole day as it goes and laughing about it all) they all loaded up with half the jumble sale,on the way back we passed a motor bike copper who clocked us and span around and followed us,i was sort of praying he would pull us as i would have stopped as the way them woman were talking about him they'd have fecking leathered him at the side of the road but i think he thought better of it when he saw some many faces at the back windows...Some times they were and them lads did get whacked a few times and lost a few motors as well, but when we had a young lass drown it was there kids who raised the alarm (they saved her 8 year old brother from dying as well) there site paid total respect in each and every way to the man woman and child...

Sorry for going on but could write a book about that year of my life and that's my lorry i had at the time and that's one of the irish kids,Jerry Berry and he had 2 cousins called Tom and Jerry Berry, feck everything was mental about them folk even their names...

The difference between the Irish and English lads is the Irish will only befriend/ be nice/ pay you on time to later try one of thier spins on you. They do it in restaurants, they go in and behave a few times, pay up . then a few months/ weeks later loads go in , eat lobster, steak etc then slip hair/ glass/ plastic in food and don’t pay.

My family the same ,always picked fruit in Lincolnshire or apples and hops in Hereford,my mum ,gran went hawking in winter months while me grandad went out with his grinding bike while the lads collected scrap and me parents wouldn't tolerate any kind of thieving,bad behaviour as it made them look bad ,

Fireman did you ever stop on the new age traveller camp at Lound nr Retford in the 90s i used to pass the camp on my way to work then and used to see pony's and lurchers roaming about . I used to envy their freedom and if it wasn't for bringing up kids i would have swapped places with them in a heartbeat.

No mate but knew a few folk who did live there , i do have to say although at times it was hard and life could have been so much easier in "town" as such i wouldn't swap those days for anything. I'm 57 years old next week a and i have to work maybe harder than i should at my age due to me sort of living my life backwards and doing what i wanted in my earlier days rather than getting a mortage etc etc, but like i said i have memories that i find hard to believe at times and they make me smile, regrets??,who ain't got a few but not from me for the way i chose to live on the road ..It's never to late to get a truck or camper and go live a bit mate,even if it's weekends getting out there and getting some head space is so important for healthy living both in body and mind....

My family are traveling people but I also traveled with hippy types and got to say I have great memories from the years spent with them ,shame they not many about today but like anything good the government don't like it and makes us criminals for travelling,
