Building Lurcher's Speed

What's he too slow for? He'll obviously never make a coursing dog but looks plenty fast enough for ferreting, lamping and that kind of stuff. The young dog I've got on now is pretty heavy through the shoulders and neck but he's doing OK.

yeah weren't thinking about coursing to be fair. Just want him to be a bit sharper on the mooch.

Get him fixed on a ball, then build up ball work for short sprints to maximise speed and quick repeats to improve  recovery.  Mix in longer runs to help stamina.

No way you can build speed up its got to be there I'm more of an up and at um dog person it's all about that take off for me and the places I go stuff tenders to be close to the cover so your dogs gotta get in there and get stuck in, my young dogs very similar looking to yours hes about 10month old showing promise but it's way early days yet
