A mates freezer filler

Had a mate and his son over for a stalk and ratting in the afternoon .Parked in a gateway furthest from the farm and walked back into the ground to play the wind .Wasn’t long before I saw a doe slip through a hedge undisturbed  by us then through a hunt gate we bumped half a dozen including a decent buck in velvet .No worries ,won’t be the last .In the next large field there was a doe and two followers feeding along the hedge so hatched a plan to skirt round the hedge line to close the distance .Nearly to a shooting point and the  doe just wandered into the hedge followed by the two young .

Onward and spotted a fox just chilling in the winter sun .No need to kill it so through a double gate and to a patch where there’s a pond in the field .Three roe we’re out behind the pond so by simply using the pond trees as a block we should be on them ,should be but no sooner had we started the stalk than another 8 came through the hedge just in front of us with no chance of a shot .Waited til they moved on and checked we were still in play for the others .Yep all good .

Around the pond tree line and there’s a single follower broadside at a fair range .I asked if the shit was ok fir him and he said yes ,On sticks and at the shit she signalled ran and bowled over within 5 m .Excellent .Gave her few minutes to see if anything else showed but only off piste over the fence as 5 more moved off !

Shot slightly back but carcass was clean so all good .

Tbh it makes you wonder why lads bother posting days out .Perhaps I’m just a know it all knob and nobody likes me or perhaps it’s all been done before and we are tired of seeing the same old .Anyway I won’t bother any more I don’t think ,you can all swivel .

Lovely stuff, no better way to spend a few hours, there seems no shortage around you, I can’t wait until my foot is fully healed and I can start putting the hard miles in again

No shortage here mate ,just a shortage of decent lads to go out with .Maybe my know it all attitude or my skinhead appearance complete with braces and crombie keep them away or maybe just the fact I live for it where most just dream it .Hard to come close to a standard that wants to kill deer not watch them and defo not many want to get out nights 3 -4 times a week .

Described me to a tee ....natural born killer not a fanny that likes to dream about it.

If I lived down South where quarry densities are high I'd be in my element.  But being up North it's a lot more difficult. 

I've only known 1 guy in my life that was out as much as me up North , lived for killing rabbits and probably killed more than anyone in the country . All he lived for and never refused an outing when I phoned him , christ we put some stuff away.

Nowadays I dont know anybody that is as keen as me , it's just what I do.

It’s the same up here, it’s a dying past time now, we are all in a certain age range now and many of the people I used to go out with are either dead or have just rapped in or moved on to other things, it’s no good saying that because someone isn’t out every day that they are not proper hunters/shooters it may just be the case that they have other interests or other things they like to do, if we all did the same thing in the same way the world would be a very boring place 

I don’t do much else apart from shooting but it’s not the only thing in my life, saying that over the last week I’ve been out 1 day and 4 nights, I’ve sort of given up a bit posting everything on here because all the threads turn into handbag swinging or a willie waving contest and although I like reading about peoples time out shooting I couldn’t give a sh*t about their opinions, they mean nothing to me, I’ve read things posted on here recently where I think “ that person is a tw*t “ but I’d never call them out on it because they are not in front of me and it’s just the internet and the internet is full of people who would roll up like a hedgehog in the real world 

anyway, I’m off to watch Clarkson’s Farm because it’s pis*ing down here

To be honest Stav if they have other interests they ain’t on it proper mate .I live and breath the game ,hunting shooting and fishing and there’s nothing else that does anything for me .

If I’m not doing it I’m reading about it ,writing about or watching you tube .

Also mate ,don’t you find it boring to write out a thread that just gets 10 likes .Far better to engage with lads and put  them straight than smile and write the next one .I’m all for peaceful debate but I get bored easy and besides there’s still a few who would benefit from being told they are doing it wrong

Not really, to be honest, I’m just not bothered what other people do or how they choose to live their lives, I’m happy with my life and if other’s like to read what I put up then that’s fine, if they think I’m a tw*t that’s also fine

Fair comment Stav .In real life I’m the same bud but on here ,I treat it as amusement whether it’s liked by others or not ,only myself to please tbh and the rest can swivel .

Used to like putting stuff up ,was proud to do so but I get bored easy.
