The one 8,482
i have 6 old traps i think would look better with a clean up , Whats the best option going to see about getting them sand blasted , where ? and will it be expensive ? Or do it my self with a paint remover . But theres only 1 trap painted in that horrible black paint the rest just need a clean up . Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
Never thought about sand blasting any trap. Cleaned a few with soap/water when in dire need, but in principle the patina, aroma, dirt seems to add something..... personal view of course!! Quote Link to post
jok 3,266
What the heck is a good looking trap ffs. I can see the cartoon, mouse , rat squirrel, rabbit ,fox badger, all looking at each other, wondering, who wants a good looking funeral. Jok. Quote Link to post

A cheaper method would be so soak in white vinegar, and then a good clean with a power washer. Painted one, maybe boil in baking soda, and power wash the loosened paint off. 2 Quote Link to post

Wolfdog91 7,097
How where they treated ? If their just rusty boil them in lye , I used diluted muric acid myself. Quote Link to post
myersbg 1,385
If your going to display them , don't sandblast or chemical treat them, a soft wire brush and WD40 is best, some traps are more valuable than others so be care full you don't de value them Quote Link to post
The one 8,482
It was like they had been left out in the rain and had heavy rusting in spots like a Dalmatian cleaned that off and they still have light rusting as you would except but look alot better Quote Link to post
GruffaloGriff 1,858
If rust is the issue...soak in 4 parts water to 1 part molasses for a few days and rinse off. It eats rust like magic. 3 Quote Link to post
