DIDO.1 22,845
I'm off up Windermere piking on Thursday. Any one got any areas to aim for? Quote Link to post

DIDO.1 22,845
Think we have decided on Grasmere instead now Quote Link to post
comanche 3,061
I fished Windermere last Summer but only successfully for roach , bream and hybrids, rather than pike . Well l started off with an evening spinning from the bank, but apart from a baby perch it was a dead loss. The water was clear ,rocky and surprisingly shallow along the public access areas . There were public jetties that went out to deeper water that looked perchy/pikeish but they were decorated with holidaymakers at the time . Eventually l went out in my inflatable kayak and anchored in the middle of a bay about 100 yards from shore in about 5 feet of water. The place was alive with roach, bream and hybrids. I would've thought predators wouldn't have been far away . Possibly not much help DIDO ,especially as you are off to Grassmere , but l did see a picture of a 20lb plus pike that l think from the details was caught off one of the few public beaches and l suspect it was near the Bowness canoe centre . I was fishing the bay next to it when l hit the roach shoal. Good luck! Edited February 22, 2023 by comanche 1 Quote Link to post
