If so, I've already applied, if not, I will apply by email! Thanks in advance, James Dear James Yes it was advertised in the ST, but they admitted to losing / misplacing a number of job applicants (ie because we used a PO Box no) - you could be one of them. To be sure, please email me with your details (as you did before). I can also check the applications to see if we have received it, though I will need your surname. I cannot of course guarantee you an interview, but I would be delighted to hear from you. Kind regards, Matthew Rampton (Easton Estate) Quote Link to post

Cheers Deker Yes, we are getting a number of responses but unfortunately the Shooting Times have admitted to losing / misplacing a number of replies to our PO Box no advertisment. So we are using the Forum to hopefully pick up on some who have got lost in the system....we are Easton Estate in Norfolk, close to Norwich. I am the estate owner and became very dissulsioned with running a commercial shoot by end of 2006/7 season. So I have decided to choose the challenge of creating a wild bird shoot on the estate, based on english partridges (the aim is to have 100 breeding pairs by 2017) and wild pheasants. We are fortunate in having good terrain and potentially excellent habitat to do this - it is a poor farming estate but a good one for shooting. We are also fortunate to have a very keen and passionate HK, who came from another wild bird shoot in Norfolk. This current just gone we have restocked but shot cocks only, and are currently instigating a english patridge release programme. Hope this helps. Quote Link to post

OldTrapCollector 377
That sounds like the shoot I did my apprenticeship on in Worcestershire years ago, structured and effective vermin control, habitat management and wild grey partridges. It is perfectly possible to create a good shoot so long as you have suitable ground Matthew, it just needs hard work and dedication to make it work. If all 3000 acres of ground are suitable, and the neighbours are also on side, then there is no reason why you could not expect to have 300 breeding pairs in that time frame. I hope you find an enthusiastic young 'keeper to make a good go of it - if I was available then I would have been sorely tempted to send you my own details - it sounds like a perfect job. Commercial shoots with their high intensity battery-farm turnovers and artificially high stocks of birds don't interest me - that is not gamekeeping in my eyes. OTC Quote Link to post
