Electrical question.

Recommended Posts

I want to put a 16 amp outlet/socket in my garage. I have a spare M.C.B. space on my consumer board. The consumer board, Wylex, is next to the back door and I can run a cable from there to the garage where I want to place the socket. From the consumer board to the socket is just under 5 meters. I'm thinking a Wylex 32A SP Type B MCB in the consumer board and 6mm T&E cable to a 16A 2P+E 230V Wall Mounted Socket will be O.K. Any electricians on here have any thoughts. It's to run a 16 amp plasma cutter and a 16 amp inverter welder. Cheers.

20A and 4mm2 should be fine mate. You may struggle terminating a 6mm2 cable in a 16A socket.

You may want to check the Type of MCB i.e. A, B, C etc to any prevent nuisance tripping
