If it wasn’t for poaching some of us would never get any hunting done, as tats says there is no real need for poaching in America as there is plenty of public access land available ?

Plenty of public land but tag systems etc mean your limited to what and where you can hunt in some places (blocks)you could want to hunt a particular species in a particular area for years and never get drawn, jacklighting deer is common here.

I have always had the perception that poaching was very rare in America with it been known as the land of the free and hunting licences and the ease of owning firearms unlike this country.

Everything depends on the state and even what part of the state your in. Like in that part of Texas ( most of Texas really) I've 95% of the land is privately owned and some of these ranches cove thousands of acres. Talk to guy work do control trapping on some of these places and they'll drive 80miles one way snaring one side of that Rance's fence. ONE. Just to give you an idea of the scale. Some of these places all of the huntable property is owned by these billionaires who ,unles your a close friend or you wanna pay $10,000-30,000 to shoot a deer your just shit outta luck. And what public ground you have is just plain shot out. That or your gonna have to dive 3-8hr across the state to better hunting. So really it's more akin to what many over y'all way had to deal with. The old trope poaching the kings forest and all.

Then you have places like My state or Louisiana where there's public spaces friggen everywhere ! In that case yeah , no real reason to poach .

But in short when it comes to the US you gotta look at things basically on a state to state hell even county to county basis

Then you have states like California...and holy f**k...

Do you think in America Wolfdog you would ever be hauled before the courts for hunting rabbits on land you had no permission to be on and end up with a criminal record.

HELL YES!  Depending on the state and what game warden got your ass you can loose your vehicle, your firearms ,your ability to legally hunt/ buy a license, get fined and get jail time, all before you get tried for trespassing which can lead to jail time all by itself
