Killed a few hours and

Recommended Posts

After the school run went up to one of my farms to do a hedge that i had been putting off, there are a lot of holes and i know not many rabbits along this hedge/fence line between two of my permissions, it needed doing to keep the landowners happy and anyway at this time of year i am running out of decent bits of land so with 40 nets, and 2 ferrets off i went, i got to the first set at 9.30am

first warren about 20 nets, and two cleanly bolted rabbits

moved down the hedge to where this hedge borders another farm nearer the farm yard ( i also have permission on the bordering farm!)

The hedge was a bit thinner at this part. this warren was quiet long and only held two rabbits, the first left via a bolt hole i had missed  the second was neatly bolted and pursed lovely

So with 3 rabbits i went to the last warren on this fence line, about 25 holes but the problem was that the warren spanned 3 fields as this was in a corner, thankfully two of the fences had gates which i could leave open whilst i worked, but the third fence was new and quiet high and when the two rabbits bolted out of the same hole i had to run about 60 yards and through two gates to get to the one rabbit that had been caught, the second one ran into the field where i had initially been stood and got back netted :clapping:

after the hardest ever extraction of a backnetted rabbit, it had backnetted with a 6 feet net and was about 9 feet below the ground well and truly wedged, it took a few attempts and me with my arm and head down the hole to pull it out, i called it a day, it was 1pm and i wanted my lunch :drink_nl:

end of day shot in farm yard

Sold the rabbits to a butcher and am off back on Thursday as he wants more rabbits!

I have a couple of largish warrens for thursday adjacent to this wood!
