THE STIFFMEISTER 16,086
Lovely in the winter there king , that strange feeling of complete isolation As for living there , yeah amazing on paper , but your nearest shopping is Moffat , one of the highest fuel prices in Scotland , large co -op servicing your needs , Langholm is a ghost town , the town is dead in the water , Arguably one of the best places for Salmon and trout fishing , fly and coarse , without having your eyes pulled out , however for a shooting man , there’s also one of the largest rifle ranges in the uk , but ironically there’s not a great lot of stuff to go at as the Marilyn’s are heavily keepered , to almost mafia levels . the idea of running stuff local is at your own risk round there . great area , great dreams but having a young active family , it would just be at reach for me . Carlisle is nearly two hours from there … Glasgow the same .

chartpolski 23,956
Can't open the link, but is that Moffat just up the M74 from Carlisle? If it is, there's plenty good hunting land around there, and Tomo, you can be in Carlisle in less than an hour. Hardly isolated. Cheers.
