Been checking the news no the licencing can't find any mention on terrierwork and rabbit hunting anyone know the out come ?

What a complete waste of time some man getting convicted over running a rabbit which back in the day would of fed many a family half the ones says it's cruel there granny grandas older folk reared on game reared on rabbits  people keep saying this country's fked it's completely fked there's people with f**k all using food banks to live living off handouts from the government but for talks sake  some man knocking his bollocks  in grafting might not have a penny tried to fed his family to get by  gets a conviction ..young kids now getting a lurcher a terrier walking fields day and night with there friends  frowned upon for out walking fields killing vermin  theyll get a conviction but when they've fa to do and start running the streets selling gear or sitting staring at a computer screen it's ok  load of bollocks the way it's going and it's a joke ..hunting fishing lurchers terriers hounds shooting genreal fieldsports what a way to live and what a great hobbys to have  what a great way to learn about life and death how to respect quarry you hunt and responsibility of caring for your own animals what great country and land we have to hunt and most people not all  who hunt respect the countryside respect the quarry  they hunt and respect and care for there dogs birds horses better than majority of the genreal public hopefully one day a miracle happens and someone with a backbone makes this place back what it was and fucks this snowflake generation off fucks the ban off and looks at the real shit show going on in the UK

Hi Glyn, I hope you’re keeping well and my apologies for not providing you with an update much sooner, but as you can imagine it’s been a busy time.

The final stage of debate (Stage 3) of the "Hunting With Dogs (Scotland) Bill" was concluded on 24th January and the Bill (with amendments) was passed with an overwhelming majority. It will now become Law around April/May of this year.

On the plus side and purely from a terrier work viewpoint, it was encouraging to see the Bill being passed with a number of amendments which brought it more in line with the NWTF Code of Conduct and which had been previously been rejected at Stage 2. But most important of all, despite attempts by the Labour Party supported by the Green Party to bring in an outright ban on terrier work, IT WILL STILL BE LEGAL TO USE TERRIERS BELOW GROUND TO CONTROL FOXES IN SCOTLAND.

On the downside, by including rabbits within the scope of the Bill (they were previously excluded) it has created some ridiculous anomalies and a number of additional restrictions. For example, it will no longer be legal to use terriers to control mink or rabbits below ground, or to use dogs to chase and catch them. It will also have an impact on rough shooting where more than 2 dogs are involved. It’s an illogical situation the only winners will be the very same mink which the Scottish Government seek and actually pay people to eradicate. The real losers will be our native wildlife which they claim to be trying to protect and this need not have been the case.

Nevertheless, it’s still a significant victory, particularly considering how badly things could have gone and the impact the Bill will have on other forms of hunting with dogs. Once again terrier work has come out of this piece of legislation far less impacted than any other form of hunting with dogs. We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Rachael Hamilton (Conservative MSP) and her colleagues who took forward all the NWTF’s suggested amendments and argued our case so forcefully.

Lads in scotland yous know who to vote for at the next election.

Maybe if a goodman from the lurcher world could of/or should do in the future get rachel on to the lurcher side of things then maybe it could be amended down the line.
