Well f**k my Mother, and give me a brother!..has to be a first for you?

To be absolutely honest, I'm sat here , tears running down my face, laughing out loud at what i'm reading ! I'd rather not join in and encourage the nonsense! "Gravity hasn't been proven " .

We'll never know. But there were rumours that contractors  engaged in the clean up after last year's Chelsea Flower Show found the remains of Alan Tichmarsh stashed in a tree . However this

charts already slipped up ? he’s said no commercial airliner can fly upside down if that’s the case how do you fly at the bottom a the globe ?? ?

The earth is spinning on its axis and spinning in its orbit,  so where's the bottom of the globe ?

No commercial aircraft can fly upside down, in my opinion, in respect to its position above the earth.

If you believe different, that's ok, I can respect your opinion without agreeing with it, but I find it an awfull indicement on the British educational system.

Cheers.

Here a little paradox for you;

If you were at the South Pole, and started digging a hole, would you be digging downwards, or upwards ?

The "top" or "bottom" of the earth is only relative to where you are standing or where you are viewing the earth from.

Have you ever been to Australia ? There's shops there that sell Australian maps and globes wher Australia is at the "top" and Britain is at the " bottom".

If you're on the ISS and view the earth, depending when you view it, the top and bottom would be different.

In answer to your question about a plane flying around the world, of course it's never upside down, it's allways the right way up relative to earth !

Physically, mechanically, aerodynamically, commercial aircraft can't fly upside down.

Cheers.

your like my science teacher mate ? so if you stood on the south pole at that time  it’s the north pole i get you thanks for clearing that up ? ?

You lads want a real head scratcher?  Try getting your heads around newton's theory of relativity!!  ?

Many years ago, I bought Hawkins "Brief History Of Time" , and didn't understand some of it no matter how many times I read it !

So, like many others, I asked if he could have it reprinted with diagrams to help us understand it.

He did, "An Illustrated Brief History Of Time", so I bought it and the only difference was he sold me TWO books I couldn't get my head around ! LOL !

Cheers.

The air follows the earth. Commercial airlines can fly at about 600 miles per hour. However, this is relative to the speed of the air through which the airplanes are flying.

It actually is slightly worse than that.

To us it looks like the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Of course the apparent motion of the sun is caused by the earth spinning in the opposite direction. The earth is spinning from west to east. It completes a rotation once per day, or once in 24 hours. The circumference of the earth is roughly 24,000 miles. This means that at the equator the earth is spinning from west to east at about 1,000 miles per hour.

Also, the poles are relatively cold and the equator is relatively hot. This means that very slowly the air is rising around the equator and falling at the poles. This produces an exceptionally slow movement of air from the poles to the equator at ground level, and from the equator to the poles at high altitude. The air that is moving at ground level is impacted by friction as it runs into trees and mountains and “stuff” on the surface of the earth. This means that by the time that the air gets to the equator it is moving with the earth, from west to east at roughly 1,000 miles per hour.

At the equator the air heats up. It very slowly rises to a high altitude. There it is still spinning from west to east at about 1,000 miles per hour. It very slowly moves back towards the poles while still spinning at the same speed. At high altitude it has nothing to run into and therefore has a tendency to keep spinning at the same speed.

Eventually this air, if it happens to be moving north, gets over the northern parts of the US or the southern parts of Canada. It is still spinning from west to east, but at this point it is spinning faster than the part of the earth that is below it. When it gets close to the polls its movement contributes to the polar vortex, but that is a different issue.

This means that an airplane flying from let’s say Seattle to eastern North America or Europe can get into the high altitude air that is moving from west to east faster than the earth is moving in the same direction. This means that an airplane can fly from Seattle to New York (as an example) faster when it is moving in the same direction as the earth than it can if it were to try to move in the opposite direction.

The reason is the movement of air. At the 45th parallel in either the northern or southern hemisphere the high altitude air tends to move from west to east, in the same direction but slightly faster than the earth is spinning
