Very under estimated as a musician and song writer. The American rap scene found him a source of inspiration, even odder and strange , I like that.

Only indication that some of these musicians are in their 70's is how skilled they are. I asked my Sunderland season ticket holder best mate why they have a bronze of some old tramp at the ground but he didn't answer. Watched him a few weeks back in Cardiff, took my dad and brother.. absolutely brilliant, brought up on his music, mid 70s and done 3 hours straight...amazing!

Neal 1,857
I took my eleven year old daughter (now twelve) to see the beat at the wedgewood rooms in Pompey in March. After the gig a bloke in full harrington, pork pie hat, DMs etc came over and said to her, 'I know you feel tired at the moment, but when you're older you'll thank your dad for bringing you to this gig.' When I told him she'd already seen Madness twice times and we're going to see them again on Father's Day in Southampton, he told me that, many years ago, he was invited by his mates to see a new band in a pup around the corner from where they were living in North London. When he turned up the band was called Morris and the Minors!

mackem 26,168
Not exactly a “gig” per se but just got a ticket for sir Michael palin and Brian Blessed’s talk on Tibet and Everest at the royal geographical society in two weeks time.

THE STIFFMEISTER 15,677
A few lads from my town went over to Holland to work at a meat factory near Arnhem , spent most weekends in Amsterdam in late 90s / early 00s , anyway 2 of them went to a small boozer for a few scoops one night , and there on the stage was a strange little 2 piece band . when they were finished , they were converted and followed the same band all over Holland and Belgium for a few months , watching them play warm up acts at summer festivals , to tiny Little rock venues in basement bars . whenever they returned , they were all they talked about . When ever they mentioned them ever , we got fed up of them talking about them “ shut up man , they are f***ing shite ! What man sings Jolene? Bender “ eventually they became the biggest band in the world at one point we got that one wrong
